  • Is Decking better than a patio?

    Decking, enables you to change your surface height more easily than a patio. Decking is also much quicker to build.

  • Are composite boards better than timber?

    Timber requires some maintenance, so it doesn't become slippery, unlike composite boards, however these are more expensive.

    Composite boards are available in a variety of colours.  

  • Do I have to treat timber decking myself?

    No, correctly pressure treated timber is usually adequate for the life of a deck. 

    There are some products that can marginally prolong the life of a deck. 

  • My old deck rotted, won't it just happen again? How do I stop it?

    The answer is, a combination of suitable materials, but crucially, correct design method.

    Easy maintenance can be advised. 

  • Can I paint my timber decking?

    As a general rule, we advise not to paint a horizontal surface. Some oil products, if applied correctly, can change the appearance to suit. 

  • Are there any drawbacks to composite deck boards?

    Composite boards age like any other material. They can suffer cracks, fading, and sagging if not installed thoughtfully and correctly.

  • What is the costliest decking material?

    These range between certain exotic hardwoods, ceramic boards, and high-end composite boards. 

  • What can I do to preserve the life of my decking?

    If we build your deck, we will give you simple instructions on how to get the most out of it. 

    If you're working with an existing deck, we can evaluate and advise how best to prolong its remaining life and function.
